This handheld polariscope is an essential tool for testing cut or rough gemstones. It utilizes two polarizing filters to observe the structure and optical properties of precious stones or minerals. This versatile instrument can also be used to identify Moissanite and detect strain in diamonds. The polariscope is compatible with a strainless sphere (a glass sphere free of strain lines) or a loupe, allowing for visual assessment of whether a stone is doubly or singly refractive and its optic sign. Additionally, it reveals strain and twinning, assisting in distinguishing between natural and man-made materials.

Operating Information:

1. Insert the flashlight into the opening under the polariscope.
2. Tighten the screw to secure the flashlight in place.
3. Insert the removable lens into the polariscope with the narrow end facing down.
4. Place the gemstone in the prong holder (tweezer) into the open space as shown.
5. Turn on the flashlight and hold the upper portion of the polariscope to your eye.
